Beautiful unfogettable place, quiet, nice gardens and old style mansion. Awesome staff very helpful. Excellent breakfast with champagne. Room with Douro view, delicious dinner in hotel restaurant.
Many mosquitos at room, they disturb all night.

The location of the hotel, situated quite high in the hills, overlooking the beautiful vineyards and the River Douro.
We had a room on the top floor overlooking the back and there is very little natural light which meant having lights on during the day. Although the room was furnished well the two single beds (although we asked for a double) were set far apart (not ideal for a romantic holiday). We spent 3 nights there and for two nights had to deal with only 1 of the 3 lights in the bathroom working (although staff were told about it and told us that at least we did have one light working!). We ate in the restaurant on two evenings and found the food pretty good. There were four members of staff on the second evening for a pretty full restaurant and the head waiter/manager was the only person who did almost all the work I.E. seating guests, taking orders, serving the food, opening the wine bottle and serving and cleaning the dishes! Felt really sorry for him as he was doing his best and feel that the other staff were probably undertrained and lacked confidence to get out of the kitchen.

The hotel looks good outside and inside. I totally expected to stay in the beautiful mansion like building but instead I was lead to a building at the far back side of the main mansion and this back structure looks no better than a motel 6. Disappointed and complain, they then gave me a room in the main building. If they intended to give the guest this type of rooms at the back, they should let them know at booking. I was very happy when I first walked in but got very disappointed after this "switch". Room is very small. It is hardly 13'x13' + a small bath.

Fantastic location with amazing views. Breakfast was good and bar service was great. The lay out of the pousada was both interesting and enchanting
The window blinds in the room need replacing

Fabulous location. Classy and unique. Beautiful and well-kept grounds and grounds. We were upgraded to a hillside stone cottage--incredible views. Fine food and service.
